Lighting: Get a high-end look with a low-end budget

Where do we find light fixtures on a budget?  Where we find almost everything else.  On Amazon.  The trick is in weeding through the thousands of blah same old choices to find the hidden gems.

Like always, we dug through the Amazon options so you don’t have to.  We found soooo many amazing options that we’re going to have to do at least one more post, but let’s get started.

Here’s a quick sample of some of what we found.

We set out to find handmade rugs that fit both our design style and our budget.  Here’s what we found.

Classic Blue and White GInger Jar Lamps

I bought these for the buffet behind my desk, so they’re in my zoom background every day for client calls.  I love an English Country look and these don’t disapoint. I can’t even begin to count how many compliments I’ve gotten on them.  A lot of the other lamps on Amazon that have the gold base have the shiny cheap looking brassy gold.  Not these.  It’s a very elegant looking gold leaf look.  At under $200 for the pair they’re much less expensive than a true oriental ginger jar lamp.

They don’t arrive quickly (I waited a couple of weeks) but they’re oh-so-very worth the wait.

elegant vintage style swing arm wall sconce set

Classic, elegant, and functional, and they don’t break the bank.  What more can you ask for with a pair of plug-in wall sconces?  Ours are on either side of the bed in the guest room.  Absolutely lovely and they look like they cost a lot more than they did.  We love that they’re adjustable and the easy turn switch.  They were a little fidgety to install, but a small glass of wine and a little patience got the job done and with less hassle than hardwired options would have been. We did add brass cord covers, but in hindsight I don’t think we needed them.

vintage green glass look at a big box store price

Trying to find fixtures that are appropriate for an older home, at a price that fits the budget, and with a style that we love is tough.  Ask us how we know.  Popular styles from Anthropologie or the like are at least 3X the price.  This sweet green glass fixture could lean across a range of decor styles, from grand millenial to mid century to art deco.

white ceramic modern (and another two-fer)

Honestly, these would fit in almost any home.  They’d look just as good in a mid-century living room as they would as bedside lamps in a cozy boho bedroom.  We love that they have a linen look shade, which helps to make these look much more expensive than they are.

It’s hard to find a single lamp that looks good in the $50 price range, let alone a pair.

A lotta chandelier look at a teeny price

Big impact lighting almost always comes at a big impact price.  Finding a lower price chandelier that doesn’t look cheap is no easy task.  We’ve got you covered.  We’re smitten with this capiz shell chandelier – stunning in a dining room or for to make a big statement in a formal entry.

At under $200 it’s hard to resist.
